Making Through:
Wood Carving
This portion of my site is dedicated to those years that I spent after my day job, staying up late into the night with ear protection and a respirator on (lovely site to behold) regardless of the temperature, making chips fly as I dove deeper into the block of basswood at hand either with a knife or power carver. Whether it was character carving, chip carving, or wild fowl carving I owe a large debt of gratitude to my main mentor Will Hayden. He was an amazing artist both with a pencil and a knife and he taught me the difference between 'whittlin' and carving (one you do on a stick, and the other you do with real wood!).
